Each week I’ll be picking out some juveniles who have caught the eye on the racecourse and will also be highlighting a few unraced horses who have been working well at home. Watch this space…

October 9

Senator Bong was a 12/1 winner at Nottingham for the list last week. Muthmera, Greatwood and Ostaad hit the crossbar but were all placed. Deficit dwelt badly on his racecourse bow but stayed on nicely under tender handling at Newmarket, while Broadway Duchess was thrown in at the deep end on her debut but wasn’t disgraced. Snoqualmie Chief

This one belied his odds of 33/1 to run very well at Salisbury and looks well up to winning a race or two for David Elsworth.

The Lark

This Pivotal filly was slowly away but stayed on encouragingly once the penny had dropped and looks one to note if she appears again before the end of the season.

Audacia

Hugo Palmer looks to have a nice long-term prospect here. This daughter of Sixties Icon ran on well to finish on the heels of the leaders in a decent Nottingham maiden and should win races.

Silca’s Dream

Mick Channon likes this son of Oasis Dream. Unraced but should be watched closely first time out.

David Jack

Brian Meehan thought this chestnut colt by Exceed and Excel might be a Royal Ascot type early in the season but the penny hasn’t dropped yet in his two runs. Much better than he has shown and worth another chance.

October 2

Felix Fabulla won again at Bath yesterday for the list and there was an excellent run by You Da One at Newmarket last week in a maiden that is bound to throw up lots of winners. Here is this week’s list…

Codebreaker
Ran a nice fifth at Goodwood last week and is thought capable of even better by Hughie Morrison. Should know more next time.

Soviet Rock
Was unfancied at 50/1 in Telescope’s Newmarket maiden but shaped with promise and looks capable of going close next time. Andrew Balding likes him.

Yorkshireman
Had a difficult debut on bad ground at Pontefract and was hampered more than once. But showed good speed and is evidently thought capable of better.

Gabrial’s Wawa
Was as green as grass and had trouble with the bend at Musselburgh but fairly flew once the penny dropped on Sunday and looks to have plenty of raw potential.

Deficit

Michael Bell thinks the world of this grey Dalakhani colt who could make his racecourse debut this weekend. Also entered in the Racing Post Trophy.

Lady Nouf

Unraced filly by Teofilo trained by William Haggas, who has been showing plenty on the gallops

Broadway Duchess

This New Approach filly has always been high in the pecking order at Richard Hannon’s yard and is expected to be among his best juveniles. Could make her debut shortly.

La Chiffonier

Has been given plenty of time by Brian Meehan but this Danehill Dancer filly is highly regarded by connections.

The list produced two more winners in the past seven days including Kikonga who was a 9/1 victor at Leicester and Felix Fabulla (5/2) at Bath. There were also lovely debuts from both Rust (2nd at 16/1) and Rasmeyaa. The latter ran third in a Listed race at the Curragh on her first run. Here is this week’s list…

Greatwood

Was well supported on his racecourse debut and did not disappoint by staying on in striking fashion to finish a close second at Leicester. Looks a very nice prospect.

Muthmera

A Group One entry, this grey daughter of Dynaformer stayed on encouragingly under tender handling to be third on her racecourse bow and looks full of scope.

Myanne

Looked to be cruising in behind the leaders at Redcar last week but didn’t finish off her run. Is well regarded and will win races if deciding to transfer the promise of her home work to the track.

Flemish School

A running on seventh in a hot maiden at the Leger meeting in his first race after being slowly away. The race is likely to throw up plenty of winners and this should be one.

You Da One

Attracted support and ran well after a tardy start and then not getting a clear run at Epsom. Clearly well thought of and should be noted next time.

Maid a Million

David Elsworth thinks a bit of this Kyllachy filly and she should be making her racecourse debut soon.

Tawafeeg

An imposing Bernadini filly who has been exciting James Tate. Will probably need a run or two but is a nice long-term prospect.

Correspondent

Brian Meehan is keen on the prospects of this unraced half brother to Delegator. He is entered in the Dewhurst and should be on the track soon.

September 10

Another nice winner for the list with Talent delivering the goods at Kempton last week. She looks destined for better things. Here is this week’s list…

Pedro Serrano

Henry Candy’s colt attracted support in the market and travelled well before running on to be second to a more experienced rival at Kempton last Friday. His run was checked a few times so it was an excellent performance.

Ostaad

This imposing Marju colt made a lovely racecourse debut, also at Kempton’s Friday meeting, and only the more experienced Concise reeled him in, the pair pulling 10 lengths clear. Already looking forward to his next run.

Rust

Ann Duffield thinks a lot of this half brother to Pivotal Flame. He is due to make his racecourse debut today at Newcastle. Although he is likely to need the race he is definitely one to keep on the right side of.

Mystery Bet

This Kheleyf filly has always been a favourite at Richard Fahey’s Malton yard and she was a close third on her Haydock debut last week after taking time to find her stride. A surefire winner in waiting.

Whatever You Do

Was relatively unfancied at 20/1 on her debut but ran encouragingly and showed good speed behind the useful-looking Lanansaak at Salisbury. As ever Richard Hannon looked to have left plenty to work on and it looks like there is much more to come.

Wallenberg

A half brother to St Leger winner Masked Marvel, he will need a trip in time but has been making the right noises at John Gosden’s yard and could make his debut later this week.

Wotalad

Richard Whittaker reckons this is his nicest juvenile. Entered in the 2yo Trophy at Redcar, he is yet to make his debut but is rated well above average.

September 4

Another winner! Laudate Dominum scored at Beverley last Saturday at a rather generous 5/1. Chief Havoc also made a lovely debut, finishing like the proverbial train to be third at Kempton. Here is this week’s list…

Swing Easy

Robert Mills’ Zamindar colt ran a race brimming with promise at Kempton on his racecourse debut and may have won in another stride or two.

Banovallum

Was a springer in the market on his second start at Folkestone last Sunday and only found one too good. Should have no trouble winning.

Estifzaaz

A close second at Sandown last Friday, Charlie Hills’ colt looks full of scope and should be noted next time out.

Rasmeyaa

This highly rated New Approach filly trained by Dermot Weld has Group One entries and could make her debut this weekend.

Absolutely So

Unraced colt by Acclamation and a favourite of his trainer Andrew Balding.

A Ladies Man

Disappointing on her Newbury debut, she is thought much better than she showed and should be given another chance.

Mundahesh

A Middle Park entry, William Haggas’ Tamayuz colt should be noted when he steps foot on to a racecourse.

August 28

This column threw up a nice winner when Wentworth won the Convivial Maiden at York’s Ebor meeting last week. He looks destined for greater things. Here is this week’s list…

Homage

Was awkward out of the stalls on his Newmarket debut and ran green, but shaped nicely once the penny had dropped and looks an athletic type.

Market Town

Ran a race full of promise in the Convivial Maiden at York on his racing bow and it is no surprise he has Group One entries. A lovely prospect.

Kikonga

Luca Cumani doesn’t have too many juvenile winners but this daughter of Danehill Dancer looks certain to pick up a two-year-old race after a couple of progressive runs.

Dream Ally

Was spotted making good late headway at Pontefract last time and Middleham trainer Jedd O’Keefe is keen on this one’s prospects.

Excellent Hit

Yet to run but trainer David Simcock is sweet on him and he should be noted wherever he makes his debut.

Toast of the Town

Unraced filly trained by John Gosden who should be watched closely when she eventually makes the racecourse

August 21

From last week’s list there was a striking debut from Talent, who stayed on nicely in a decent Newbury maiden. She should go very close next time. Here is this week’s list…

Abated

Beautifully bred, this filly had a troubled passage on her Newbury debut but still ran a nice race under gentle handling. She could be very good.

Arbeel

Peter Chapple Hyam thinks a lot of this filly and she was an excellent third at 40/1 on her Goodwood debut. She should have no trouble picking up a maiden before progressing to better things.

Shamaheart

Richard Hannon’s colt has shown definite promise in two runs and looks to be crying out for further than six furlongs. A surefire future winner.

Centred

This Michael Stoute filly was a promising third to a better fancied stablemate at Kempton but ran a lovely race and should come on a ton for the run.

Mojo Bear

From a good family, Sylvester Kirk likes this unraced filly and expects her to be up to winning a race.

Chief Havoc

Jeremy Noseda has always liked this son of Giant’s Causeway and he should be closely watched wherever he makes his debut.

 

August 14

Felix Fabulla

Hughie Morrison thinks a bit of this juvenile, who was slowly away on his debut at Sandown, but was spotted making stealthy late headway. Definitely one to keep on the right side of.

Laudate Dominum

Richard Fahey’s 2yo filly ran a remarkable race on her debut at Pontefract. She overcame a stinker of a draw to weave her way through the pack and finish like a train. A winner waiting to happen.

Wentworth

This scopey individual has been exciting everybody at Richard Hannon’s yard and was unlucky on his debut at Goodwood in a hot-looking maiden. He is entered in the Dewhurst and other big races and should not be missed next time.

Senator Bong

Was 33/1 when coming an excellent third on his racecourse debut in a decent maiden at Newmarket. But that was no surprise to David Elsworth and his team as they have always liked this son of Dutch Art. He should have no trouble winning a maiden.

Raskova

This daughter of Henrythenavigator was green on her debut but ran on nicely to be third in a Yarmouth maiden. She is well regarded by trainer William Jarvis and should win races.

King Muro

Andrew Balding thinks quite a bit of this unraced Halling colt and he should be out soon.

Talent

This unraced New Approach filly is highly regarded by Ralph Beckett and is entered up this weekend. Definitely one to keep on the right side of.

Jammy Guest

George Margarson thinks the world of this unraced Duke of Marmalade colt who is entered up in all the big juvenile races.
