I’VE NOT mentioned the Racing Post Naps Table for a little while. Why? Because I’ve been out with the washing near the foot of the table. A few weeks ago I was in the bottom six. However, a bit like a Paul Moloney ride in the Grand National, I’ve been slowly creeping into things over the past four weeks and after a decent run I suddenly find myself in 8th place at the time of writing.
A score of -£26 has been transformed into +£9.50 to a £1 level stake. A combination of luck and okayish judgment, I suppose but it will be tough to emulate the last Naps Table competition. You can read about that here.
Today I’m going for five winning naps in a row after Inaam (4/1), Rocking Blues (7/4), Beg To Differ (5/2) and the admirable Rayvin Black (10/3). I don’t particularly fancy much today and have played relatively safe with PRESELI ROCK (2.00) in the first race at Ffos Las. A repeat of his run at Cheltenham behind Champers On Ice last time out would be good enough to win today but conditions at Ffos Las will be attritional and the horses will probably need equine waders.
HORATIO HORNBLOWER (3.45) offers a bit more value while I will be surprised if DRUID’S FOLLY (5.20) fails to get his head in front in the bumper, albeit at a short price.
Nicky Henderson’s yard is hitting form and he could win the first two races at Market Rasen with CHOCCA WOCCA (2.10) and CLEMENCY (2.45). The latter looks overpriced at 4/1.
I’m not convinced the talented WINNER MASSAGOT (3.20) will enjoy the ground although he might just get away with it. He is still well handicapped and if he flops today I still think he can win a big handicap on good ground. The Scottish Champion Hurdle might also be a race for him in April. COTILLION is in rude health and can take advantage if the favourite flounders in the conditions under top weight.
Be lucky!
