I’VE just realised I’m on a bit of a roll. Both Tuesday’s selections won and the same happened yesterday, so hopefully it’s hat-trick time today. I was at Thirsk yesterday and I don’t think I’ve ever been as hot on a racecourse. Mecca’s Missus won cosily in the first and Rex Imperator finally decided to play ball and won the 6f handicap a shade more comfortably than the neck verdict suggests. He should go in again while he is on a ludicrously low handicap mark. Rex, who can be a bit of a monkey, was as quiet as a lamb in the parade ring and looked a happy horse. The signs were good and he settled nicely and decided not to have a scrap with his jockey before poking through a gap to win. Today’s first selection is…
MACHINE LEARNER (Epsom 6.50). He is highly thought of by Michael Bell and this was justified on debut at Sandown when he stayed on well to be fourth in a decent looking race. Normal progress should see him win tonight although you have to take any young horse’s ability to handle Epsom on trust.
SIGN OF THE KODIAC is the other selection at Haydock (2.50). I’m hoping there are no world beaters among the newcomers as this fellow was not disgraced in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot. This is somewhat easier.
Be lucky!
