Daily Double June 9

YESTERDAY was a mixed bag. Darrell Rivers hit the frame at 12/1, which was nice, while Rose Acclaim stayed on late in her race but too late to nick a place. Good to see former 2,000 Guineas runner Fair Trade come a close third at Thirsk. it’s always lovely to see an old boy come back to form. Ailsa On My Mind, as expected, was well backed and ran a solid third on her debut while Birkdale hit the crossbar at Ayr and is a winner in waiting. On to today and it’s off to sunny Southwell for horse number one…

DUN SCAITH (5.50 Southwell) absolutely hosed up at Bangor last time out. A change of tactics seemed to work a treat then as Killian Moore allowed this headstrong sort to bowl along in front. He has paid the penalty by going up 12lb, so faces a stiffer task today but this ex-Irish trained horse may have enough in his locker with ground conditions in his favour.

Elsewhere, I’m going to take a bit of a punt with PREMIER CURRENCY in the 1.55 at Salisbury. He is quite highly thought of by Richard Hannon and a bit better was expected on his debut when he was well supported at Windsor but finished mid division. He could reward each-way backers.

PS Forresters Folly is tricky to catch right but has ability when things drop his way. He is not one to put the mortgage on but he should get the conditions he needs today at Southwell (4.50). i.e fast ground. In the two-year-old maiden at Lingfield, both Tweetheart and La Rioja have been working nicely and are worth monitoring.

Be lucky!
