Daily Double: May 28

WONDERFUL card at Sandown tonight with the Brigadier Gerard Stakes and the Henry II the highlights, supported by a competitive undercard. However, I’m looking at Wetherby’s Jumps card tonight for slightly easier pickings. Promanco looks a penalty kick in the first but you won’t get rich so RALLY is the first half of the double in the 6.10.

You won’t get rich on him either but I think he’s a good thing granted a clear round. It’s a three-runner race and Rally’s two efforts over fences do not breed confidence. However the key to this horse is that he needs decent ground and he’ll get it tonight. He also stays really well and his main rival Rathlin Rose has only won on the soft. It looks a match and Rally is a course winner over hurdles. The other selection…

…is CUT THE CORNER, who was chinned on the line at the same track last week. He runs off the same mark and the step down to 2m should not be an issue.

PS There are some interesting juvenile contests at Haydock today and I expect Destroyer to step up on the glimmer of promise he showed on his debut when he contests the 3.20 at Haydock. He may reward each-way interest, while Saturn Lace is well thought of by John Quinn and could take the 2.20 if he shows the expected level of improvement on a nice debut run.

Be lucky!
