TALK about after the Lord Mayor’s show… Our Grand National horse Balthazar King ran an absolute blinder to be second to Pineau De Re. He’s only 10 and could return for another crack next year. Our Daily Punt column was in clover yesterday. BALDER SUCCES was a brilliant winner of the Maghull Novices’ Chase and looks a proper Champion Chase contender next season. And WHISPER, despite sweating up badly before the race, ground out a brave victory against At Fishers Cross in the Stayers’ Hurdle. Wilde Blue Yonder also ran a blinder to be fourth despite being hampered turning in and then missing the last flight. He is an exciting prospect. For good measure SUCH A LEGEND won at Chepstow, albeit at odds-on.
Today’s racing at Fairyhouse is high quality but the horse who interests me runs at Ffos Las in the 4.10. The talented Nico De Boinville, above, has struck up a good relationship with the improving eight year old HEAVENSTOWN. He is up another 6lb for a gutsy win at Bangor and he may just have enough improvement to win again.
1pt win Heavenstown
