There is a distinct feeling of the calm before the Royal Ascot storm this week.
But while there is an inevitable lack of quality, there is still plenty to go at if you fancy a flutter.
Hopefully regular readers of this blog were on Cruck Realta and Cool Rhythm at Salisbury yesterday. Both relished the ground and although today’s racing has seen conditions dry out a little, it should still pay to follow horses proven on the soft.
Here are today’s pointers:
Dreamily (2.50pm) Haydock: Mark Johnston’s juveniles usually show a lot of improvement from their first run and this filly is worth an each-way interest.
Swnymor (3.20pm) Haydock: William Haggas has his team in great form and this one showed distinct promise on bad ground on his debut.
Citybell (4.10pm) Yarmouth: Richard Fahey sends this one down to Yarmouth and she looks worth an each-way interest.
Norfolk Sky (5.10pm) Yarmouth: Cathy Gannon does well at Yarmouth and this filly ran a nice race last time.
Sabore (5pm) Beverley: Looks a shoo-in for Fahey.
Peters Pursuit (5.30pm) Beverley: Has form on soft ground and should complete a good day for Fahey.
Third Half (8.50) Hamilton: Should make the long trip north pay for Tom Dascombe.
Good luck!
